Photography > Illumination Collection (2006)

This collection explores techniques using light manipulation (specifically addition) as a method of drawing the eye of the viewer to specific locations, highlighting specific parts, as well as using it as a possible structural and compositional device for the image. This blurs the line between what I have added and what is naturally occurring, adding a layer of mystery, and uncertainty to the works.

The photos are also a subtle comment on light ‘pollution’ as a result of living in or near the city, not necessarily in a negative way. Long exposure photography is a tool that allows me to show a world that is not always noticed or admired though the human eye on it's own.

Time is another important consideration, although more secondarily, as it is more an interesting by-product of this sort of work.
